Senior Scientist (Gene Editing)

SUMMARY
Brii Bio is seeking a highly skilled biologist for our growing drug discovery team. The individual will be working in our state-of-the-art wet laboratory space in the Global Health Drug Discovery Institute facilities in Beijing, China. The successful candidate will lead and conduct experimental biology studies in all phases of exploratory and discovery biology. The position will require a diverse skill set to include cell-free biochemical assays, cell-line studies as well as primary cell biology. This role will be part of an experienced discovery team and offers the opportunity to develop new skills and obtain experience and expertise as part of a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical research team. The individual will be accountable to identify and develop assays and methods to characterize novel biology as well as new drug candidates. The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of biochemistry, cell and molecular biology. This role will require working closely with a global discovery team to incorporate new technologies to facilitate the progression of novel clinical candidates that allow for maximal therapeutic impact and differentiation for patients. Primary responsibilities will be laboratory based activities to design and execute experimental studies, generate data and report results to a broad program team. The candidate must have good organizational, writing and communication abilities to communicate results and ideas to other team members including non-scientists.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Implement experimental design, assay development, cell-line characterization and modification with novel scientific platform technologies and high translational relevance
• Perform in vitro or ex vivo cell-based studies to characterize disease biology
• Conduct lead identification and drug candidate profiling and characterization.
• Enable the Brii discovery strategy by ensuring biological capabilities are aligned with new technologies and the broader scientific vision
• Develop evaluation plans to assess platform technologies and new drug modality areas of interest
• Communicate with scientific and executive leaders
• Design and execute experimental studies and ensure all data and results are carefully documented in Brii electronic lab notebook systems.
• Collaborate with external CRO teams
• Contribute to the preparation of scientific reports for project teams
• Prepare, review, and deliver scientific presentations for internal/external use.
• Represent platform technologies on cross-functional teams
• Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, and apply to the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments.
• Work cross-functionally in complex and fast-paced research organization
• Represent Brii Bio externally at scientific meetings, and through high impact scientific communications
QUALIFICATIONS
• PhD or equivalent in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, immunology or a related discipline with 2+ years of post-PhD experience, preferably in industry.
• In-depth knowledge with hands-on experience (preferred) in several key areas including biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and immunology.
• Understanding of advancing platform technology areas including CRISPR/Cas9, gene editing, RNAi, vector delivery methods, antibody drug conjugates, mRNA vaccine and bioinformatics systems.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate in a team-oriented environment
• Solid track record of completing challenging technical problems independently and creatively, exemplified by publication of research in high-quality scientific journals.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills and ability to work efficiently and productively in a dynamic, scientifically rigorous, and fast-paced environment.
